Cotonou Living Lab

Objective:

It focuses on the use of black soldier flies (BSF) to revolutionize sustainable agriculture, waste management, and food security practices across multiple sectors.

Activities:

  1. Train school canteens to recycle organic waste into high-protein animal feed and compost, reducing waste disposal costs and creating a sustainable waste management system
  2. Train schools to establish BSF composting units to process organic waste and integrate the compost produced into school gardens, providing fresh produce for school meals
  3. Empower farmers to develop facilities for large-scale BSF composting using agricultural residues and integrate BSF-derived fertilizers into their farming practices
