Cotonou Living Lab
Objective:
It focuses on the use of black soldier flies (BSF) to revolutionize sustainable agriculture, waste management, and food security practices across multiple sectors.
Activities:
- Train school canteens to recycle organic waste into high-protein animal feed and compost, reducing waste disposal costs and creating a sustainable waste management system
- Train schools to establish BSF composting units to process organic waste and integrate the compost produced into school gardens, providing fresh produce for school meals
- Empower farmers to develop facilities for large-scale BSF composting using agricultural residues and integrate BSF-derived fertilizers into their farming practices
